The City of Yorba Linda is known as the Land of Gracious Living. Located southeast of Brea, Yorba Linda is growing strong with nearly 64,000 residents. The city encompasses 20 square miles and offers a host of opportunities to both residents and businesses. Since its incorporation in 1967, the City of Yorba Linda has strived to offer the highest quality public services, which includes the police services provided by Brea Police Department for more than 30 years now. The City's historic roots have been preserved in Old Town Main Street. This area boasts boutique retail and services and acts as a focal point for many community activities. The weekly Farmer's Market and annual programs such as the Arts, Crafts, & Antiques Festival and Old Fashion Christmas in Old Towne draw residents and visitors alike.

Education Parents in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District are rightfully proud of the seven elementary and three middle schools in Yorba Linda. Yorba Linda students regularly place at the top of Orange County schools in standardized academic achievement tests.
The Placentia Yorba Linda Unified School District is in the process of planning for a new high school in Yorba Linda. The new Yorba Linda High School is quickly becoming a reality with an anticipated opening in the Fall of 2008. This comprehensive high school will be the first ever in Yorba Linda and is a long-awaited dream of the community.
Youth Sports The number of Yorba Linda children participating each year in organized youth sports is astounding: 2,164 in Little League baseball, 686 in girl's softball, 272 in Pop Warner football, 3,493 in soccer, and 1,138 in junior basketball. The City's Parks & Recreation Department maintains 135 acres of sports fields and 30,000 square feet of gymnasium space for these activities.
A Safe Community Consistently recognized for having one of the lowest crime rates in California, Yorba Linda credits its contract with the Brea Police Department for creating a safe and secure environment for its residents and businesses.
Equestrian Activities The love of horses and the City's commitment to equestrian activities helps set Yorba Linda apart from other communities. In addition to the 100 miles of maintained horse trails, the City has also built three state-of-the-art equestrian arenas. The nearby Chino Hills State Park also affords residents the chance to ride in unspoiled wilderness.
Shopping Most of the shopping and retail activity in Yorba Linda occurs in small, neighborhood centers. Large retail stores are found at the nearby Brea Mall. Recently, the City began working on its own regional shopping center, the Savi Ranch Center, which now includes Home Depot, Best Buy, and other stores.
Recreation Yorba Linda residents can enjoy the great outdoors with 19 parks encompassing 135 acres. The city maintains several facilities that can be rented or reserved including Yorba Linda Community Center, Thomas Lasorda Field House, Travis Ranch Activity Center, Bryant Ranch Sports Fields, Valley View Sports Fields, Eastside Community Park, Bixby Bryant Ranch House. The City's Parks &: Recreation Department offers a variety of recreation classes and activities. A recreation brochure is mailed out to residents four times a year. Registration forms are included in the catalog and are available at City Hall or the Community Center.
Community Events
Battle of the Bands Community Center Parking Lot Hear great local bands perform at this annual event in May. The evening includes great music, dancing under the stars, and hanging out with your friends!
Celebration of the Arts Thomas Lasorda Jr. Field House, Hurless Barton Park and Community Center Talented individuals, choirs, musicians, artists, dancers and entertainers from Yorba Linda will be featured and scheduled throughout the day on stages, exhibit areas and display booths on the 1st Sunday in June, from 11am to 4pm. 4th of July Spectacular Valley View Sports Park, 4756 Valley View St. The Fourth of July entertainment begins at 4:00pm each year with food, music, games, and a fantastic fireworks show. Fireworks begin at 9:00pm and last about 20 minutes. (714) 961-7181
Concert in the Park Hurless Barton Park, 4601 Casa Loma Ave. Bring out the blankets and a picnic basket for a series of free concerts in the park. Seating is available in the amphitheater or on the grass (bring your own chair). The concerts get under way the Sunday after Independence Day and continue for eight consecutive Sundays. Labor Day Family Fun Fest The Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace, 18001 Yorba Linda Blvd
The Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace grounds are the home to a giant family picnic on Sunday and Monday during the Labor Day weekend. There are games, chalk art activities and dancing to live music. The events are free with admission. The library also hosts celebrations around Independence Day, Christmas and other holidays. Polish Harvest Festival Pope John Paul Polish Center, 3999 Rose Drive This annual event is held the third weekend in September and features entertainment, cultural exhibits, ethnic food and traditional dancing. (714) 996-8161.
Fiesta Days On the last Saturday in October, a one-mile stretch of Yorba Linda Boulevard is transformed into a fiesta. The day starts with a parade at 10:00am from City Hall southbound on Casa Loma, turns eastbound on Yorba Linda Blvd. to the Nixon Library. Youth athletic teams, bands and local politicians are among those who walk or ride in the parade, which tries to bring a little small-town charm to residents. Points of Interest
Richard M. Nixon Library & Birthplace The jewel in Yorba Linda's crown is the Richard M. Nixon Presidential Library and Birthplace. Visitors from all over the world come to see the place where America's 37th President was born as well as his final resting place beside his beloved wife First Lady, Patricia Nixon.
Susanna Bixby Bryant Ranch The historic Susanna Bixby Bryant Ranch serves as the site for the Yorba Linda Heritage Museum. Here visitors can glimpse some of Yorba Linda's unique heritage. Each room depicts a different period or aspect of the area's history, from Indian times to the first settlement by the Yorba family, and into the modern age. The grounds are planted in California native plants, and a small replica of the original botanic garden is located on the east side.
City Government The City is governed by a five-member City Council with each Council member serving a four-year term. Council members are elected at-large with the City Council selecting one of it members to serve as Mayor. City elections take place in November of even numbered years. The next City election will be held on November 7, 2006. The City Council hires a City Manager who is responsible for managing the day-to-day City operations.
