Police Recruit
Brea Police Officers provide public safety and seek to make a positive impact on the quality of life in the cities of Brea and Yorba Linda. While Officers start in the Patrol division providing protection, enforcement, and preventive patrol, they have the opportunity to make contributions in a variety of other assignments. From Traffic/Motorcycle Enforcement and Investigations, to School Resource, officers serve our communities in many different ways. Brea Officers utilize the latest in police technology, and receive continual training. Every officer also has the chance to have a direct impact and involvement in the direction and activities of the Brea Police Department. The Department’s immersion in the 21st Century Leadership Model encourages and provides opportunities for every Police Officer to actively participate in the administration of the department, including setting goals and policy as well as participating in the selection of the department’s leaders.
Police Recruit (Entry Level)
The Police Recruit position is designed for Police Officer candidates with no previous experience as a sworn Police Officer and with no previous police academy training. Once hired, Police Recruits will be assigned and sponsored to a local P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards and Training) approved police academy. Full-time police academies take approximately six months to complete. Upon successful completion of an academy, a recruit will be assigned as a Police Officer, and will begin the department’s field training program. The assignment as a Police Officer begins a one-year probationary employment status.
